Below are the areas of needs observed by the NICU at Jersey Shore Hospital for bereaved families. As a ministry dependent on †he generosity of others, your donations will help provide these important and special items for these precious families. The mission of Heart of Shalom desires to help them know that during the most difficult time of their lives, they are not alone and they are loved.

Bereavement & Memory-Making

  • Bereavement Boxes

  • Small drawstring bags for keepsakes (such as a lock of hair)

  • Supplies for “scent hearts” (one for baby and one for parent), which can be a beautiful bonding and remembrance activity

  • Materials for parents to create keepsakes while spending time with their baby

Infant Keepsakes

  • Preemie-sized hats, blankets, clothing wraps, and special garments (dresses for girls and onesie outfits for boys)

  • Keepsake quilts

Comfort for Parents

  • Small comfort and hygiene items (toiletries, self-care items) to support parents during extended hospital stays
